Markus Schweininger works for the Schaeffler Group as Global Head of Export Control overseeing Export Controls (EC) and Sanctions globally.

As a leading global supplier to the automotive and industrial sectors, the Schaeffler Group has been driving forward groundbreaking inventions and developments in the fields of motion and mobility for over 70 years. With around 83,700 employees, Schaeffler is one of the world’s largest family companies with approximately 170 locations in over 50 countries.

In his role he developed and implemented a comprehensive Export Control Compliance Management System and Governance structure in all entities globally to ensure trade is conducted in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. His global team is in charge of setting the framework, policies and procedures, providing training and awareness, making all EC and sanction related decisions, exercise governance and monitor compliance.

Markus has more than 20 years of experience in the area of Export Control, Sanctions and Customs in various leadership and expert roles navigating through the diverse regulatory environment with its potential overlaps and conflicts. He previously worked for various large US and German companies in a variety of industry sectors such as Food & Agriculture, Aerospace, Telecommunication and High-Tech. Before joining Schaeffler he was the Global Head of Trade Governance & Export Control with equivalent responsibilities at a leading German pharmaceutical company.
